The Foundry is excited to host our 3rd annual Regional High School Student Show!

All St. Charles - St. Louis regional public, private, and homeschool high school students in grades 9-12 are eligible to participate. Each school/homeschool group may submit up to 15 individual works, with no more than one work per student.

Artworks will be juried by the Foundry’s curatorial team. Works selected for the exhibition will be juried based on skill, decision making, innovation, and personal expression as is appropriate for the student’s grade level.

PARTICIPATION
All St. Charles St. Louis regional public and private high school students in grades 9-12 are eligible to participate. Home school groups in this area are also eligible.
Each school may submit up to 15 individual works, with no more than one work per student.

GENERAL GUIDELINES
There is no required theme for this exhibition.
2D and 3D works are eligible for exhibition.
Foundry Art Centre staff will create labels for each work. Labels will include student name(s), artwork title, school name, teacher name, and media. Please provide all label information with your registration and clearly label all submissions on the back. A template will be sent via email to all artists/teachers after artwork has been accepted into exhibition.
All paintings must be dry. Wet paintings, incomplete work, or damaged work will not be accepted.
All artwork should be framed and fully assembled. PLEASE test to make sure artwork is ready for hanging.
While every attempt will be made to preserve, secure, and protect each entry submitted, the Foundry will assume no responsibility for loss or damages incurred. Entry in the show signifies compliance with this waiver.

ARTWORK AVAILABILITY
Artwork must be available for this exhibition. Do not submit an artwork for consideration if it is committed for other exhibitions or portfolio reviews. PLEASE review all dates carefully.

FRAMING/DISPLAY
All 2-dimensional work must be framed and ready to hang with D-rings and hanging wire. No saw tooth hardware. No tape, Velcro, or other temporary hanging materials are allowed. The artwork should be protected where necessary with glass, acrylic, Mylar, or other clear material. Works that are not framed and ready to hang with hanging wire will not be included in the exhibition. This includes artwork without properly installed hanging wire.
Works on canvas should be framed or gallery wrapped. No unstretched canvas.
All 2-D, wall installed artwork must be ready to hang from standard hanging hardware. Please, no works that must be adhered directly to the wall with push pins, Velcro, tape, ticky tacky, etc.
All 3-dimensional work must be stable and able to stand on its own. Plinths or pedestals will be provided for display.
Digital artwork is eligible. If selected, school or artist must provide the necessary equipment. Please contact Jessica Mannisi at [email protected] to discuss.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Teacher may complete the application process on our website.
Entry limit is 15 works per school.
Multi-paneled artworks, such as triptychs, count as one work as long as they are presented as one work with one title.
Submissions that do not comply with the guidelines will not be accepted.

PUBLICITY & REPRODUCTION/COPYRIGHT
The Foundry shall be responsible for the cost of publicity. The media and photographs used for publicity are at the sole discretion of the Foundry. Publicity may include: (a) press releases, (b) posters and/or other didactic material associated with the exhibition, (c) the mailing and distribution of exhibition or show announcements, (d) advertisements in digital or paper publications, and (e) social media posts.

The artist retains full ownership and copyright to all artwork on display. The artist grants the Foundry the right to use any photographs of the artwork, either supplied by the artist or taken by the Foundry for promotional use. It is the responsibility of the artist to obtain publication permission from any photographer that photographs artist’s artwork.

COMMISSION
Students may choose to have artwork for sale, but it is not required in order to exhibit. The Foundry will solely be responsible for the sale of artwork, and shall receive a commission of fifty percent (50%) of the sale price. The Foundry will remit the artist’s share of the sales price within thirty (30) days of the later of the sale of the artwork or the closing date of the exhibition. An IRS Form W-9 is required to be completed by the artist.

SELECTION & JUDGING PROCESS
Artworks will be juried by the Foundry’s curatorial team. Works selected for the exhibition will be juried based on skill, decision making, innovation, and personal expression as is appropriate for the student’s grade level.

DELIVERY & PICK UP
All accepted artwork is to be delivered February 20-22, 10am 4:30pm at the front desk of the Foundry Art Centre. Due to the installation timeframe, there will be no exceptions. Teachers are encouraged to deliver artwork on students’ behalf.

Artwork must be picked up March 24 - 26, 10am-4:30pm. Artwork not picked up within 2 weeks will be considered abandoned and disposed of.

Image Upload

Please upload images of your work that you would like to have considered for exhibition. Images should showcase the entire artwork. If you would like, you can include detail images in the supplemental image upload. 

Images should be at least 300 dpi and between 1,600 and 2,400 pixels on the largest side. 

Images should be saved as a .jpg or .png. 

Images should be labeled as Artist's Last Name, First Initial, and Artwork Title (abbreviated titles are acceptable.) Example: VanGogh_V_StarryNight.jpg | Kahlo.F.SelfPortrait.png 

Please include student's name, artwork title, dimensions in inches (hxwxd), and media. Failure to include these items will disqualify the artwork from consideration.
